Blindata Synchro

Blindata Synchro is a separate desktop application which is running on the server.

Blindata Synchro updates the website database with the data from the Blindata desktop system installed on the server.

So it synchronises the changes made in Blindata Desktop (prices/stock items/customers etc) to the web-site plus it updates the online orders which were already imported into the desktop system.

There are three tabs in the app.

The ‘Office -> Site’ tab is intended to manage and indicate the synchro process.

The text field purpose is to display success and error messages got during the synchro process. The ‘Copy To Clipboard’ button allows to copy the text field content.

The ‘Use Replication’ parameter defines whether the full synchronisation should be performed or not (if the parameter is enabled only the changes made to the desktop system are synchronised).

The ‘Update Online Orders’ flag as it follows from its name purposed to update the online orders which were already imported into the desktop system.

The ‘Shut Down’ button allows to close the app while the close button (in the upper right corner of the window) only hides it in the system tray.

The ‘Settings’ tab allows to define the automatic synchronisation time and configure the email settings in order to receive a message if an exception occurs.

The ‘Connections’ tab contains the databases connection details. It is configured by the Blindata support team at the website setup stage and in common cases does not suppose that the user will edit it.

Usually Blindata Synchro is installed under the Windows account used by the Blindata support team and configured to start at system startup. Its icon can be found in the Windows system tray (the bottom right of the screen).
The icon looks like this:

If there is no Blindata Synchro icon in the system tray it is necessary to run it manually using the icon on the desktop.

By default synchronisation is started automatically at 2am daily. But the start time can be changed on the ‘Settings’ tab.

If the changes made to the Blindata desktop system should be applied to the website immediately it is necessary to synchronise the databases manually using 'Run Now' button. In this case it makes sense to perform the replication synchronisation (the ‘Use Replication’ flag is ticked) without orders updating in order to minimize an execution time as the usage of the website is restricted during the synchronisation.

Sometimes errors may occur due to network errors, etc. In this case, it is recommended to perform a full synchronization. Since it takes quite a lot of time it makes sense to run the full synchronisation at non-working time.
