Additional by Width/Drop

Certain stock items (options) get used with blind types depending on the width and drop of the blind. Here are two possible examples.

1. When a roller blind is made, the tube size used is dependent on the width and drop of the blind – the bigger the blind, the bigger a diameter of tube is needed.

2. For venetian blinds, if the width size is less than 500mm then the controls can only be Standard; left or Right controls cannot be chosen.

In cases like this we can restrict the options available by looking at the size of the blind. The option displayed in the detail line defaults to the one which is the nearest with regard to width and drop.

The following table is used to hold both these conditions. This can be found in Blind Details > Blind Type Options > Link Options.

If the option is not held in this table, there will be no width/drop restrictions.

There are now three new fields to this table, ‘Quantity’, ‘Calculator’ and ‘Default Code’.
When this table is looked at (when the BOM is created when the order detail line is saved), it uses the calculator information from this table instead of from the stock record.
There is also a new import routine to import records into this table, which is in Administration > Import From Excel and is called ‘Additional By Width/Drop’.
We have also specified the order of choice, so another field has been added called ‘Order’.

The field group is a free type text field and is used to prevent multiple stock items in the same group from being added to the bill of materials.
The first stock item in each group that matches the criteria for the detail line being entered is added to the bill of materials using the stock item calculator, default code and quantity.
All other stock items in the same group are ignored.
The system then moves down the list until it reaches a new group and then continues to match stock items to add to the bill of materials.

For example:

A blind is entered with a width of 1200 and a drop of 1800. The first stock item in the Additional Options that matches these criteria is added to the Bill of Materials.
In this case it is the first record down the list. All other stock items in the same group are ignored.
The procedure then moves down the list until it finds the next group, which is “Motor”, and then adds the next stock item that matches the same criteria.
This process is continued until the end of the record set is reached.

Dependent On / Also Dependent On

If either of these fields are filled in then the stock item entered into this field must match an option that has been selected in the detail line.

When the BOM is being created, the Blind Type > Additional By Width/Drop records were ignored if the ‘Group’ was null.
It now finds the record if the ‘Group’ is null.
